The APCE Endowment Committee has set a goal of $10,500 to be raised during this Annual Event time—and is excited to announce that $1,650 has already come in! You can make your contribution through Regonline, or stop at the “Fan the Flame” booth while in Nashville. Honor an educator by making your gift, and help APCE continue its vital ministry while doing so.

APCE participants are once again invited to the Presbyterian Publishing Corporation's Annual APCE Breakfast. This year's breakfast will be held at 7:00 a.m. on Friday, January 29. Those attending the breakfast will be treated to a light breakfast and an informative program featuring two speakers: Kathy Bostrom, author of Making Space for the Spirit, and Kimberly Bracken Long, author of The Worshipping Body: The Art of Leading Worship. Participants will hear firsthand about PPC's new resources for Christian education and about some of the new additions to The Thoughtful Christian.com. To make your reservations, please call 888-728-7228, ext. 8160. Seating is limited to 200.

Please submit the names of educators who have died in the past year to me (please use the contact through the website: Who We Are/officers) by Friday, January 21 st so we can remember them at the Annual Event.

Last reminder: Educator of the Year nominations are due January 15—this Friday -- BEFORE the Annual Event. The process works best if you secure endorsements from several others so bear that in mind as you prepare the nomination paperwork. Information and the nomination form are on the web site.

Don't forget to contact your presbytery to request an endorsement or concurrence of the overture re: Certified Christian Educators that Mission Presbytery is sending to the 219 th General Assembly. Many presbyteries in the PC( USA) have meetings in February or March. Don't delay. You will find the overture and other info on the website. Check out the December 2009 Alert for comments from Judy Ferguson that she presented to Mission Presbytery supporting the overture.

The deadline for submitting workshop proposals for the 2011 annual event is February 15. The form can be downloaded from the website.

This is the last Alert that I have the privilege of sending to you, the members of APCE. Eileen Best will be installed as the next president during the corporation meeting in Nashville and will be writing the Alert for the next year. It's been a joy to serve you and to read and respond to your e-mails to me. I thank you for your support and mostly for being the dedicated, talented, Christ-centered people that you are.

Blessings in this New Year and beyond,

Medora Hix

APCE President
