Overview
The ministry of Christian education is strengthened by certification of educators. Of APCE's partner denominations, the PC(USA) and RCA are the only ones with certification processes at this time. Neither denomination requires educators to be certified. However, the processes intend to recognize competency in the field and create accountability between the educator and presbytery or classis. Each denomination oversees its own educator certification process. APCE provides a Liasion to the PC(USA) Educator Certification Council (ECC). Currently Susan Penrod is the Liasion from the Cabinet to the ECC.

This section has three sub-sections:

Certification Process: An overview of the requirements by denomination to become a certified educator.

Certification Coordinators: The persons to call for more information.

Certification Courses: What classes are required, where to take the classes, links to theological institutions.
Currently the information in the Certification Process and Certification Courses sections is available for the PC(USA). Information about the other denominations will be forthcoming.
