Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me — watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11:28-30 (The Message)

Come get away with us to Birmingham, Alabama, January 25-28, for the 2023 APCE Annual Event, “Unforced Rhythms of Grace”.

Ministry in the time of a pandemic has been exhausting.

“Are you tired?” Yes!
“Worn out?” Like a rug.
“Burned out on religion?” I serve in a church, don’t I?

Come and get away for a few days and join us as we gather to grieve the losses we have endured due to illness, fear, convenience, laziness, complacency, workaholism, comparison. Jesus is calling us to rest–really rest. It is our hope that you will find rest and company during the Annual Event in Birmingham.

At the same time, it will be an emotionally challenging week, as we will be gathering during the 60th Anniversary of the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing. But together we can lament and grieve the tragedies of our world and find comfort in a God who bears it all with us.

We are excited about the opportunities to worship, lament, explore, learn, be challenged, and grow during our time together. We are hoping to provide opportunities for some “Unforced Rhythms” like unscheduled time to gather with friends, explore the Spirituality center, or go back to your room and take a holy rest/nap!

Our leadership for 2023 is:

• John Pavlovitz, Keynoter
• G. Phillip Shoultz, Musician and Worship Coordinator
• Michael W. Waters, Preacher
• Katie Nakamura Rengers, Preacher
• CeCe Armstrong, Preacher
• Mary Button, Conference Artist

Come join us for AE 2023 “Unforced Rhythms of Grace”!
