Davis & Elkins College invites applications for the position of Benfield-Vick Chaplain with a start date prior to the beginning of the Fall 2023 semester, no later than August 1 (June 16 application deadline). This is a collaborative partnership shared with Davis Medical Center. The candidate will serve 2/3 time for D&E and 1/3 time as DMC’s Lead Chaplain/Pastoral Care Coordinator.
The successful candidate will serve in a highly collaborative role across academic affairs, enrollment management, and student life to provide vision and leadership for spiritual development on campus. In addition, this person must be qualified to teach at least one course per semester in religion and philosophy. This position requires passion, excellent campus ministry skills, diligent management of budgets, and some weekend/evening work.
Davis Medical Center’s ideal Lead Chaplain/Pastoral Care Coordinator candidate will provide direct spiritual/pastoral/bereavement support to patients, families, staff and volunteers; coordinate efforts to improve the patient and family experience and to help people faced with illness and grief find comfort and meaning; coordinate the volunteer chaplaincy program and serve as liaison to community faith leaders; and work cooperatively with clinical staff, volunteer services coordinator, and administration to support the goals and objectives of DMC.
