Director of Youth and Children’s Ministry

The Director of Youth and Children’s Ministry will be in charge of effectively providing Christian education of the youth and children of Georgetown Presbyterian Church. This person will find success in this position by being a great communicator, multi-tasker, and a natural teacher/mentor. This position is vital to our Church because these young people are the future of the Church and require a person who can lead them in Christian values and help them to live their lives on the Word of God.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement programs for young children, middle and high school youth.
Develop and implement community and congregational mission work/outreach with middle school and high school youth.
Foster relationships with youth and children through activities outside the church.
Provide counseling for youth and/or families when needed
Form and organize a children and Youth Volunteer committee that will act as a liaison meeting once a month to help plan and facilitate activities.
Select and coordinate seasonal youth activities and mission work
Attend staff meetings, prepare reports for Sessions and Columns articles
Provide training in compliance with the GPC Protection of Minors and Vulnerable Adults Policy
Maintain regular communications with youth and parents
Create/schedule opportunities to connect GPC Elders and congregation with youth, such as working alongside Pastor with confirmation classes
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
3+ years’ experience with Christian education of children/youth of all ages
Optimistic, driven, magnetic, energetic, passionate about work and about sharing God’s word
Able to: demonstrate strong leadership skills and organizational skills; effectively communicate with church staff, members, youth and parents both verbally and in writing; use social media platforms for church announcements
