First Presbyterian Church shares a vision to be present in the Sioux Falls area as the visible face of Christ.

Purpose: Designs and implements programs that ignite and nurture the spiritual and relational development of youth beginning at grade 6 from a reformed perspective and in adherence to the PCUSA doctrine. This position provides leadership to grow youth/family relationships with Christ and with First Presbyterian Church.

Essential Responsibilities:
– Designs, implements, and coordinates programs, activities, and projects that provide developmental opportunities for youth and their families
– Coordinates with Director of Children’s Ministry in order to provide seamless programming
– Develops comprehensive Christian education curriculum for youth, grade 6 and above
– Develops strategies to help youth engage with the larger congregation
– Works with the Head of Staff on the annual confirmation process
– Leads youth meetings in a prepared, coordinated manner to guide spiritual and relational development
– Recruits, trains, and develops appropriate adult volunteers to assist with and participate regularly in youth meetings, activities, and Christian education
– Coordinates and monitors fundraising events to support youth trips and other experiences
– Leads the Youth Ministry Team
– Regularly evaluates progress toward established church priorities and goals, reporting results on a defined schedule to Head of Staff and Session
– Develops and manages Youth Ministry budget
– Must be available to work Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings, September through May
– Performs other duties as assigned

Basic Requirements:
– Must be a warm, approachable, and enthusiastic person who can relate to all age groups, especially youth and their families
– Must possess character, faith, and skills necessary to effectively minister to the unique strengths and challenges of today’s youth
– Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design
– Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
– Time management and organizational skills to accomplish day-to-day responsibilities as well as plan for the future
– Ability to teach the Bible in an engaging and accurate manner
– Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including fluency in social media platforms
-Ability to maintain confidentiality as appropriate
– Ability to communicate the vision of the church
– Ability to exhibit demeanor appropriate to a place of worship

Education and Experience Requirements:
A combination of education in youth ministry and work experience to satisfactorily perform the responsibilities and duties associated with the position.
