Title: Ministry Program Assistant*

*with a Focus on Children’s and Youth Ministry

3/4-time Position, about 28 Hr/ Week (Exact Hours Negotiable)

Purpose: To support the ministries of the church, particularly the children’s and youth ministries, in accordance with the policies and directions of the session and under the supervision and direction of the Director of Christian Education. Based on the skills and interests on the candidate, the purpose of the position could also extend to other ministries of the church’s life.

Personal Qualifications: We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative, and committed Christian who has a passion for, and demonstrated ability to relate to, children and youth. This candidate should be able to build strong relationships with the congregation’s children and youth, their families, the volunteers, the staff, and the congregation at large. Additionally, this candidate should have strong organizational skills and the ability to demonstrate emotional maturity.

Responsibilities:

 To coordinate the volunteers and childcare workers for Sunday mornings and special events as well as the weekly acolytes for the worship service.

 To provide weekly preparation for children’s ministry offerings including preparing Sanctuary baskets, name tag stations, the nursery, and the children’s Sunday School classes.

 To serve as a ministry leader at children’s and youth ministry events such as a nursery worker, children’s Sunday School teacher, youth group, the Downtown Youth Collective, service projects, and retreats.

 To support the planning and execution of special events throughout the church’s program year, such as the All-Church Labor Day Weekend Retreat, Fall Festival, and others.

 To make connections and facilitate relationships with children, youth, and families as well as the broader congregation.

 To help with any other tasks as assigned that support the ministries and missions of FPC.

 To provide transportation for self to the church, church events, and on off-site retreats and events.

Educational/ Ministry Background: This candidate should be working on or have an undergraduate college degree, experience working with children’s and youth ministries, and be knowledgeable about developmentally appropriate material for children and youth. Graduate-level studies in religion and/or Christian theology or practice preferred but not required.
