Are you passionate about sharing Christ with those around you? Do you have a desire to pour into the lives
of children and teens and meet them where they are? UP Church Washington is looking for an energetic,
fun loving leader excited about the opportunity to hang out with teens each week, walk alongside them, and
provide thought provoking experiences that help them grow in their faith.
The primary focus of this position will be planning and implementing youth programming and facilitating
Christian Education. The Youth Director will help further build and nurture the body of Christ at the UP
Church by growing the Youth Ministry and building relationships with youth.

● Programs
○ Lead the middle school and high school youth programs (approx. 20 hours/week)
■ Establish a fun, energetic, and exciting experience for youth. Give them the opportunity to
be goofy while delving deeper into their faith.
■ Promote programs through the use of various communication tools such as social media,
technology, and mailings – communicate with youth in the manner they are most
■ Create disciples who want to invite their friends each week and serve others.
■ Build relationships with youth and within the community by attending community and school
events – go where they are!
■ Work to build strong relationships with volunteers who want to consistently assist with specified
age groups and reach into their lives however they can
■ Coordinate and lead these groups on scheduled days
■ Create fundraisers and attend special events to engage and support the youth
■ Plan and implement the summer high school mission trip (10 days)
■ Be accessible as a counselor
○ Restart the elementary mid-week youth program (approx. 10 hours/week)
■ Promote program through the use of various communication tools such as social media,
technology, and mailings
■ Find and retain volunteers to consistently assist with group
■ Coordinate and lead this group on scheduled days
● Christian Education (approx. 10 hours/week)
○ Coordinate and oversee a progressive, interactive Sunday School program (Birth – 12th grade)
■ Promote the Sunday School program through constant communication with parents and volunteers
■ Identify, develop, and equip the volunteers who will lead the various age groups
■ Prepare lessons with assistance from the Christian Education team to implement the
○ Coordinate and lead Vacation Bible School (Preschool – 5th grade)
■ Decide on dates (summer), time, and theme
■ Recruit volunteers to develop/plan the specified parts of the program and to assist with the
children on the specified dates
■ Promote VBS to the Washington community as well as our congregation
○ Participate in worship service
■ Coordinate annual children’s Christmas program
■ Schedule occasional youth participation in worship service
● Other responsibilities as assigned by the Pastor

Desired Characteristics:
An individual with a dynamic personality who is passionate about children of all ages, can run a multi-faceted
and unique youth program, will communicate completely and effectively with the staff and congregation of
the church, is God-directed, and has a mature faith with the ability to communicate that faith to all ages. Must
be flexible, caring, self-motivated, creative, organized, able to work cooperatively with others while taking the
lead, and live their faith as an example. This person should see this position as an opportunity to grow the
Christian faith in our youth and involve them in the broader ministry of this church.

Hours, Salary and Benefits: Full-time (40 hours/week), starting at $40,000 plus benefits, negotiable based
on experience. Prefer that candidate reside in the Washington community – moving expenses are
