2019 Annual Event | Galveston, TX
February 6-9, 2019
Letter from the Co-Chairs
Ho, come now to the waters…
Come be refreshed, gather with old friends and meet new ones.
Come be inspired by uplifting worship and thought-provoking speakers.
Come explore new ways to engage our vision for faith formation through worship and mission.
Research shows that time at the beach is good for the body, mind and soul. Looking across the horizon, watching a sunrise….listening to the rhythmic lapping of the waves….feeling the fresh sea breeze on our faces….It’s all a reminder of God’s awesome power.
In addition to the beach, Galveston has so much more to offer. So many options are available for this year’s conferees. From the choice of two major airports, three different hotels – all within walking distance of the convention center, options to come early or stay late – or both! Opening night will kick-off with a Mardi Gras Celebration that will showcase a sampler of the diversity of Texas, from a country western band to blasting off into space via a display from NASA. Offsite workshops will feature the recently opened Bryan Museum highlighting the unique history of this part of Texas and NOAA where conserving endangered sea turtles is a priority. This is a conference for the entire team!
- Worship and music folks will be motivated by the many offerings provided by the members of PAM (Presbyterian Association of Musicians). Here’s an opportunity to sing with the conference choir!
- Mission-focused colleagues will want to hear the Rev. Dr. Tom Long lead a plenary on Faith Formation through Mission and participate in a hands-on mission project.
- PYWA (Presbyterian Youth Workers Association) will offer a track of workshops focused on youth ministry. Educators will be informed by the change in the language of faith formation from the Dr. Lisa Kimball.
- An interactive panel discussion will bring the elements of faith formation, worship, and mission together for all generations of the church.
Come and connect.
Come be enriched.
Come be empowered,
Come be sustained.
Come to the waters in Galveston and be a part of the 2019 APCE Annual Event. We can’t wait to see you! All are welcome!
