Director of Children, Youth, & Family Ministries
Towson Presbyterian Church
Towson, MD

Towson Presbyterian Church (TPC)—an inclusive, curious, compassionate, courageous community of faith striving to grow disciples of Christ—seeks a highly motivated individual with a deep love for children and youth to lead our children, youth, and family ministries. While our church is blessed with engaging children and youth ministries, we recognize the need to bring greater form and focus to these ministries to grow them into all we believe they are called to be. Our church has also begun prioritizing and investing in family ministries, understanding the pivotal role of parents as their child(ren)’s primary faith-formers. Our next Director will understand that growing our children and youth ministries will require passionately pursuing a robust and meaningful family/parent ministry. Thankfully, all the ingredients are already in place for thriving children, youth, and family ministries, including a well-loved staff, strong lay leadership, and an invested community of faith.

Responsibilities:
• Work with the Associate Pastor to cast a vision for new and transformative children, youth, and family ministries.
• Equip and guide the Children, Youth, & Family Ministries (CYFM) Committee’s discernment of this vision, and the organization of the programs and ministries such a vision entails.
• Organize and implement an engaging, comprehensive Christian education program for children and youth that is coordinated with the Sunday schedule.
• Organize and implement an engaging and formative ministry for middle school and senior high youth.
• Organize and implement meaningful family and intergenerational events through the church calendar.

• Build meaningful relationships with children, youth, and their parents.
• Encourage and equip parents to invest in their child’s faith formation.
• Communicate effectively with church families regarding both recent and upcoming ministries, sharing stories of the past and promoting upcoming opportunities.
• Plan and administer a summer weeklong day camp (similar to VBS) at the church’s BeeTree Preserve site, including curriculum selection, volunteer recruitment and equipment, and camp organization.
• Oversee the church’s professional Nursery Caregivers.
• Provide insight regarding children’s education and ministry to the congregation, Session, and staff as appropriate/needed/requested.
• Collaborate with church staff as appropriate.
• Contact new/inactive/in-crisis families in consultation with the pastoral staff.
• Regularly promote the church’s ministries to the Towson Presbyterian Preschool and their families.
• In consultation with pastors, provide input to the Christian Education budget process.
• Other duties as assigned by one of the pastors with Personnel Committee input.
