Director of Children’s and Youth Ministries

Grace Presbyterian (PCUSA), Tuscaloosa, AL seeks a 20 hour/week part-time Director of Children’s and Youth Ministries who will develop and lead comprehensive ministries for children and youth, fostering spiritual growth, and creating a safe and engaging environment for faith development through various activities and events.
Essential functions of this position include:
• Organizing and planning nursery care and Sunday school for children and youth through 12th grade
• Organizing and planning for children’s and youth participation and leadership in worship
• Organizing and planning special children’s and youth activities like Confirmation, Children’s Sabbath, Vacation Bible School
• Supporting parents and families in the development of faith formation practices at home
• Supporting congregational involvement and relationships with children and youth, including special events that highlight the
seasons of the Christian Year
Skills and Educational Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree required; Certification in Christian Education preferred (equivalent experience will be considered)
• A passion for helping children and youth grow in their faith
• A deep faith, theological curiosity
• Basic understanding of PC(USA) beliefs
• Understanding the importance of inclusive language for God and people
• Open and affirming of LGBTQ family/children
• Familiarity with developmental stages related to learning and spirituality
• Excellent written and oral skills
• Ability to use social media effectively
• Ability to recruit, train, lead and support volunteers in ministry and leadership positions
This position enables private pay access to the Medical Plan of the PC(USA) Board of Pensions, and the 403(b) plan administered by Fidelity Investments, and includes paid holidays, sick days, and vacation days.
