First Presbyterian Church of Lee’s Summit is a family of faith called to build faith, bring hope, and share love. We seek to live this out in all that we do. In worship, we fully invest in two distinct services: a contemporary service at 9:00 AM, and a traditional service at 11:00 AM. We are glad to be one worshipping community united across these two styles of worship. In fellowship, we gather monthly in some form or another for meals, special mission events, and more, knowing that time spent with our whole community is a vital part of deepening our faith. In mission, we partner with more than a dozen local organizations to serve our community. And in education, we take part in Sunday School each Sunday at the 10:00 AM hour. Bible studies, book groups, and other small groups take place throughout the week, and special seasonal opportunities like Lenten or Advent studies are offered for the whole church.
We are blessed to be in a season of health, growth, and new things. Early in 2025, our Session approved a major capital campaign and building project: “Rise Up and Build.” This project will involve almost half of our building being updated over the course of 2026 and into 2027. Our pastor arrived in July of 2023, and since his arrival we have experienced substantial growth in membership, financial giving, worship attendance, and program ministry participation. Our Session has even grown in number recently to meet increased leadership needs. This growth is no small part of our need to rejuvenate our faith formation ministries.
What defines our ministry? We are relational: we seek to know everyone by name, and are known for being warm and welcoming. We are open and affirming, and a Matthew 25 congregation committed to inviting all people to our church. We are missional, and are significant leaders in the city’s philanthropic work. And we are intergenerational, and include all ages in our ministries.
