Position Overview
Garden Community Church is seeking a Full-Time Director of Faith Formation to help nurture, rebuild, and expand ministries with children, youth, families, and adults.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to help shape an engaging, collaborative, and intergenerational approach to faith formation within a welcoming and growing faith community. The Director will work closely with the Faith Formation Ministry Team, church staff, additional ministry teams, volunteers, and members and friends of GCC to cultivate meaningful opportunities for spiritual growth, belonging, service, learning, and community connection.

Key Responsibilities
The Director of Faith Formation will:
• Collaborate with the Faith Formation Ministry Team to develop and organize programs, educational opportunities, seasonal events, retreats, service projects, and faith formation experiences for children, youth, adults, and families.
• Foster relationships and engagement with children and youth, families, and adults through communication, outreach, encouragement, and supportive presence.
• Help coordinate and integrate faith formation across the life of the church, encouraging connections between worship, fellowship, mission, music, service, and educational ministries.
• Assist in worship leadership opportunities, including children’s messages, seasonal and educational experiences, in collaboration with pastoral staff and additional ministry teams.
• Support volunteer recruitment, provide volunteer training, mentorship, and ongoing leadership development within faith formation ministries.
• Build relationships with community organizations, denominational partners, schools, camps, retreat programs, and service-learning opportunities that strengthen ministry engagement.
Collaborative Nature of the Position
This role is intentionally collaborative and relational. The Director of Faith Formation will partner with church staff, ministry teams, volunteers, parents, and congregational leaders to help create a unified and sustainable vision for faith formation throughout the church community. The position values creativity, flexibility, communication, teamwork, and a spirit of shared leadership.

Administrative responsibilities include:
• Participation in staff and ministry team meetings
• Communication through email, website updates, social media, and outreach
• Coordination of schedules, events, curriculum, and supplies
• Assistance with budgeting and planning alongside ministry leadership
• Maintaining appropriate records, communication systems, and ministry organization
• Supporting church policies and Safe Ministry practices

Preferred Experience and Qualifications
Qualified candidates will be considered on the basis of:
• Bachelor’s or higher degree or equivalent experience
• Experience in education, children and families ministry, youth work, and additional faith formation programs for adults
• Strong communication, organizational, and collaborative leadership skills
• Creativity, flexibility, and the ability to navigate growth and change
• Experience working with volunteers in intergenerational ministry settings
• Familiarity with progressive Christian theology and alignment with the values of the UCC and PC(USA) traditions
• Comfort with technology, communication platforms, and basic Google Drive and office software
Additional Information
The position requires a background check.
Compensation and benefits will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and position structure in accordance with PC(USA) and UCC guidelines for a full time educator.

Compensation & Benefits:
Salary – $40,500 – $60,000, depending on education and experience
Benefits – Health Insurance, PTO
Vacation and Continuing Education to be determined
