Stephen R. Haynes is Professor of Religious Studies and Director of the Liberal Arts in Prison Program Rhodes College, where he has taught since 1989. He is author or editor of fourteen books, including The Last Segregated Hour: The Memphis Kneel-Ins and the Campaign for Southern Church Desegregation (Oxford, 2012), The Battle for Bonhoeffer: Debating Discipleship in the Age of Trump (Eerdmans, 2018), and Why Can’t Church Be More Like an AA Meeting? And Other Questions Christians Ask about Recovery (Eerdmans, 2021). Haynes is also a Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (USA) and serves as Theologian-in-Residence at Idlewild Presbyterian Church in Memphis.
